Improvement of the performance and techniques of local chicken and guinea fowl production.

Problem that technology is supposed to solve :

This technology aims to improve poultry production.

Technical characteristics of the technology :

Breeding improvement crosses of the local breed of hen with the broiler strain. The first offspring (F1) will be distributed to breeders in rural areas. The crossbreeding will continue on station to better evaluate the performance of the crossbreeds. The same process will be followed for guinea fowl. Breeders have been trained in improved rearing techniques.

Economic characteristics of the technology

- Acquisition cost :

- Economic profitability :

- Comparative advantage :

- The crossbreeds produced have better growth and production performances than the local breeds (more than 1 kg of live weight at six months of age compared to an average of 1 kg at one year of age for the local breeds).

- Good food conversion

- Good resistance to environmental conditions than improved breeds.

Limits of the technology :
